Your first Luckyhoo marketing campaign
This guide is for all the marketing professionals, web designers, entrepreneurs or other innovative people who want to run a Luckyhoo marketing campaign. It will show you all the things you need to consider when you work a Luckyhoo marketing campaign. This guide will take you step-by-step through all the essential points to create, manage and run a successful Luckyhoo campaign.
Background information
Many users would love to start an online contest to attract visitors to their website but don't know how. Luckyhoo makes it as easy as it can be. And still, for many users it's kind of hard to start a campaign. They struggle in where to begin, what to do first, how to plan and execute a campaign.
We believe that it helps to break down your first campaign into single phases. In each phase, you just focus on one thing at a time. After running through all the phases you should have your campaign ready to go.
Planning phase
Before you start rockin' you should try to do some planning. It will help you to finally get what you really want.
Where and for how long do you want to run a campaign? Define a timeframe in which you want to run your campaign. Don't run an open-end campaign. Setting a clear start and end date to your campaign is essential for a successful campaign. It will help you to handle your campaign like a project with clear goals, resources and measures. Also, a realistic start- and end date will help to better distribute the winners of your prizes over the duration of your campaign.
Think of good prizes for your campaign? The number 1 tip for a successful campaign is offering attractive prizes. Remember, you want the recipient of your Lucky Codes to visit your website. Give them an incentive. Don't save on the prizes you offer. Sponsor prizes out of your own stock but also have partner companies sponsoring prizes.
On what media do you want to print your Lucky Codes? If you choose any of our provided cards or flyers this question is easy to answer. But if you choose to "export" your Lucky Codes then try to be creative. On what media do you want to print your Lucky Codes? On the bottles you produce by sticking a label onto every bottle? Or on the whole series of your resort maps? Think of something that will catch your client's eyes.
How many Lucky Codes do you want to print? How many Lucky Codes will you be able to distribute during the time of your campaign? Think of how many you would distribute in the best case scenario and print at least that many Lucky Codes. Remember, if you run a premium campaign you will only be charged for Lucky Codes that actually get redeemed on your website. Therefore, try to be on the safe side and print sufficient. The more visitors to your website the better.
What data do you want to collect from participants? You can choose what fields a participant needs to fill in when redeeming a Lucky Code. The e-mail field is mandatory and not removable (because you need an e-mail address of every winner for further communication about prize hand over). Other than that, you can add any textfield, checkbox or radio-button you want. You can use fields for name or address, for asking questions or ticking checkboxes. But remember, usually users appreciate privacy and don't like to be asked for too much personal data.
Who is responsible for the camapaign management? Try to choose one person who has the full responsibilty over your campaign. This is the person that needs to make sure that the campaign runs smoothly, that winners receive their prizes, that the account credit is sufficiently funded and that all the involved people get frequent updates and reports.
Setup phase
In the setup phase you create your campaign online and print the Lucky Codes on your preferred media.
Walk through the 8 setup steps. If you start a free or premium campaign, you will be walked through 8 setup steps. Follow these steps and the instructions. You can go back to any step at a later point in time and change settings. The 8 steps are pretty much self-explanatory. See them explained below:
- Campaign Data: Provide name, description, start- and end date of your campaign. Provide comma separated tags identifying your campaign.
- Lucky Code Quantity: Select the quantity of Lucky Codes to be generated.
- Prizes: Add prizes to your campaign. List every prize you want to sponsor for your contest. Provide a title, description, picture and value for every prize. Sort your prizes: top prizes in the list will go out first.
- Print Center: Choose if you want to print your Lucky Codes onto flyers on your home printer, at a professional printing center or just export the lucky codes and print them on your desired media.
- Flyer: If you go for a free campaign using Luckyhoo templates, this is the step in which you will add your text, color schemes and style to the flyers or cards. An empty space serves as placeholder for Lucky Codes.
- Redeem Site: You need to choose the design of the website where your participants will redeem their Lucky Codes. This website will be called from the Luckyhoo server, but can be fully integrated into your website. Assign colors and styles. Just integrate the resulting URL code snipple into your website.
- Sign-up: Before finally generating the Lucky Codes in the next step, you need to sign-up as a user. Premium campaign will be prompted to provide their payment information.
- Activate your campaign: This is the moment where the Lucky Codes are generated. All the generated files are stored in your campaign center in the user area.
Print your Lucky Codes. Now that you have generated the Lucky Codes, you need to print them according to the printing option you selected in step 4 above.
- print-at-home: Print it on any paper on your home printer. We recommend to use paper with the exact same size of our flyers. All are flyers have sizes that the main paper suppliers produce for your home printer. Just print and you are ready to go!
- print-at-pro: Your order will be processed at a professional printing center and sent to your delivery address within days. The delivered flyers are finished, cut-to-fit and ready to go!
- export: Download the Excel (.csv) file and further process it to your desired media. The file contains one Lucky Code per row. Any professional print center is able to print the Lucky Codes, on at a time, to your preferred output media. Most printers wil do this in two steps: first print your media (flyer, magazine, cards) and in a second run print the Lucky Codes on the media.
Distribution & redeeming phase
In this phase you distribute the Lucky Codes you created earlier and watch recipients redeeming their Lucky Codes on your website.
Distribute Your Lucky Codes: Hand out your Lucky Codes to all the prospects you wish to reach. In the planning phase you should have worked out a concept where and how you want to spread your Lucky Codes. If it is on a fair, on the street or in your monthly news magazine, try to distribute as many Lucky Codes to the people as possible. Our experience shows that a good campaign has an average return rate of 30%. Every third Lucky Code you distribute actually gets redeemed online on your website.
Watch Your Prospects Redeeming Their Lucky Codes: Once you have done your job in Lucky Code distribution you can watch the participants redeeming their codes. You can get reports about your contest in real time. Queries can individually be adapted to your needs. Find out who participated when, where participants are from, what are their interest, who won a prize. Possibilities are endless.
Follow up phase
The follow up phase is all about how to use the data you generated during your campaign.
Further Usage Of Your Luckyhoo Data: After a successful Luckyhoo campaign you will have a lot of prospect data in your Luckyhoo Campaign Center. You can use this data according to your needs. All the reports in Luckyhoo can be downloaded as Excel (.csv) files. Take these files and import them to your internal CRM system or address database. Use the data to follow up or run marketing campaign (remember the rules of permission marketing: only send mass newsletters and the like to contacts that have actively agreed on receiving promotion from you). After a few months, compare your new clients with the Luckyhoo campaign participants and see how many have you were able to turn from prospect to client with your campaign.

We hope this guide helps you to get a feeling how to start your Luckyhoo campaign.
